For some people they can. For others, not really.
Depends on the seriousness of the relationship, what both are willing to sacrifice, what both are looking to put into it etc. How connected you two can remain over a long period. I had one in my late teens. Girl lived 3 hours away. We went out for about 2 years. Saw each other every weekend, be it she traveled down here or i traveled up there. It was good for a while, but for me i got bored. My interest level dropped in the whole thing. Dunno if i was bored with her, or if i was bored with the situation itself and not having the ease of seeing each other whenever we wanted. I met this other girl (a local) after those 2 years and didn't wanna be with this long distance girl anymore. Broke up with her over the phone straight away and then i decided to date that other girl. Me and local girl went out for 3 years. It was a much better relationship, but they were also two completely different people however. If you were after advice from us, i always say it's better to experience something, than not experience it at all and wonder what could've happened. If something doesn't work, you can always stop it before it drags on.

I wouldn't know, obviously... But seems like it would depend on how often you saw each other and how long you'd be apart from one another. If there's no arrangements to move closer to one another, like Jerome said, eventually one will get bored, or someone will else will sweep them off their feet.

Very well said Jerome
I agree... its all based on the peeps.. and the fact that its still "new" means that if anything it can only get better! Because yall can maybe make a move in the near future! (which iam preying happens kthanks lmao) I say go with the flow and it will all work out for the best! Since it is long distance try and not put too much stress on the relationship quite yet because its hard enough being apart, so dont add any more unneeded tension ps.. cant wait to hang with you and your new lover.. THIS WEEK! OMGZZZZZ! ahahahahaha

Ok, here is my take on long distance relationships. They can work if you are both willing to put in alot of time. I have been in one for 5 years now!!! You figure we would have moved in together or something like that but alot has come up. With jobs, and personal things happening to the both of us, we have had to stay where we are for the time being. She lives in dallas and I live in charleston.
We try to make time and visit but it can be hard sometimes. You can make it work as long as you want it to work. If one person isnt putting in the time or energy, its not worth it. It all works out if you want it too!!! |
