I dunno... a whole playoff sysem would make college football as boring as pro football. >_>
By that I mean, ok yeah the games are important, but look at all the crazy upsets there were this season. I dont think they would have been exciting if a game was just a game, not someone knocking off number one. Its far from perfect as it stands, but meh

i think it would've ended up being OU vs. USC, Texas v. USC, or what it is now. i still think OU is the best in the nation talent-wise. |

I read an interview with a group of coaches and most prefer the system the way it is. They feel that without a playoff system intact, it makes the regular season games have more value.
The argument that they don't have a playoff becuase of "money" is bs. They would get even more WITH a playoff system intact. The sponsors (Fed Ex, Tostitos, Etc.) don't want it because it devalues their sponsored games, thus the universities tend to back them. BCS sucks, but it's not gonna change anytime soon.

the bcs is absolute bullshit and should have been done away with decades ago, its total crap....they should have the top 8 teams have a playoff....
there is no excuse for ANY TEAM EVERY TO GO UNDEFEATED AND NOT PLAY FOR THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP under any circumstances...and say "oh its because their schedule wasnt very difficult" florida has only played one ranked team this entire season...lsu...their entire schedule is a fucking joke....and finally the AP pole recognized that and dropped them to number 2 and put alabama at number 1 this week since bama has played 3 ranked teams this year as opposed to florida's 1... THAT BCS BULLSHIT IS NOT BASED ON DIFFICULTY OF SCHEDULE.... yet the BCS still has florida ranked number 1 due to their "impressive" victories over charleston souther, troy, and kentucky who is the worst team in the sec...yet ignores the fact that they fought for their lives to beat both unranked tennessee and arkansas by a combined 13 points... south carolina will play 3 top 4 ranked teams this year...THAT is a tough schedule.... florida and alabama are in the same conference and have both played 5 conference games....alabama has won their 5 conference games by an average score of 18 points, where as florida has won their conference games by an average score of 15 points...which shows that alabama is indeed the better team in the conference so far...so by that alone they are ranked higher in the conference...and that is ignored by the bcs... so to summarize this....alabama has played a tougher schedule and has won their conference game by a larger margin than florida.... the AP is smart enough to recognize this....yet the BCS sees tim tebow as a cash cow and will stop at nothing to make sure he is the face of the BCS

Completely agree.
I hate the BCS and this year would be perfect for a playoff as NO team has shown to be completely dominant. 8 teams would be perfect. Rose Bowl Orange Bowl Sugar Bowl Fiesta Bowl Each winner advances, creating two more games the NCAA can get sponsored. Those winners then go on to the National Championship Game. The NCAA gets to keep their sponsorships with bowl games, the schools get a much needed playoff system...It's a very simple concept.

It won't happen until what happened back in '03 happens again. USC and LSU both finished as split-National Champions. If I remember correctly.
Or until we see the loser of a conference title game go to the BCS Title game anyway. Or, well, whatever the hell else the BCS system will screw up next. |
